Herman Vantrappen is the Managing Director of Akordeon, which he set up after more than 25 years' experience at the leading global strategy & organization consulting company Arthur D. Little. He has conducted numerous assignments for large and medium-sized clients in a diverse range of industrial and service sectors, including general manufacturing, automotive, electronics, medical products, materials, chemicals, energy, construction, business services and government.

While at Arthur D. Little he was also the Editor-in-Chief of Prism, a magazine published by the company for senior executives worldwide. He has authored many pieces in a wide variety of other journals, including the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Strategy & Leadership, Long-Range Planning and Nikkei Asian Review. He is the author of the book "The Executive Action Writer" in which he advises businesspeople how to craft texts that will trigger the response they want from their target readers.

Herman Vantrappen obtained an M.B.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University's Tepper School of Business (Pittsburgh, USA) and an M.S. in Engineering from KU Leuven (Belgium).
